It’s been a big year for cars running into buildings. Earlier this year, a man reached his breaking point and slammed his car into a shopping mall. Then, Ferris Bueller star Alan Ruck crashed his truck into a pizza parlor. And, of course, who could forget the cops who lost control of their vehicle and drove it into a bar — then proceeded to lie and arrest the bar owners for getting mad at them about it?

Now, another car-building collision has gone viral. In the video, a man and woman in Brazil can be seen enjoying an ice cream. After about 30 seconds, however, a car loses control behind them. It turns quickly — then drives right into the ice cream parlor, shattering the windows and pinning the people underneath the vehicle.

So what happened here? According to Globo’s g1, the driver is a man named Josimar Araújo Santos. Not only did he admit to drinking alcohol and taking medication before the accident, but as can be seen in the video, he attempted to flee the scene before the police arrived. Really a top-tier person we’re dealing with here.

Santos eventually turned himself in to the cops, at which point he was charged with drunk driving along with a slew of other charges like “culpable bodily harm, failure to provide assistance and fleeing the scene of the accident.”

The two people involved in the accident were, as one might expect, severely injured. “The victims were identified as Luis Demetrio Jose Reis, aged 51, and Adriana Caprio Reis, aged 50,” reads the g1 piece. “In contact with g1, the couple's son said that the man broke both legs and received several stitches, but was discharged on Monday afternoon.”

The woman, Adriana Caprio Reis, is still in the ICU with a broken right leg, a compound fracture in her left leg and severe abdominal trauma.

Let’s just hope they will both be okay in the end — and that this will end with them getting free ice cream for life.
